HousingPlus: Advancing Affordable Housing in New York City Through Partnership

HousingPlus develops and maintains supportive housing for New York City residents with some of the highest barriers to stability, with a focus on women, gender-expansive people, and their families. Once tenants are housed, HousingPlus offers a range of individualized services to support them on the path to achieving their goals, whether that means pursuing an education, reunifying with children, maintaining sobriety, or other milestones.

NFF’s Financing team first partnered with HousingPlus in 2021 through the Trinity Church Grantee Loan Fund, providing a $600,000 no-interest bridge loan to address a delay in government contract payments. Our partnership with HousingPlus continued in 2025 through a $5.2 million investment in a total $10.5 million financing effort led by the Corporation for Supportive Housing. Together, we’re helping make possible a 167-unit housing project for formerly unhoused women, veterans, and individuals returning to the community after incarceration.

Aisha Benson, CEO of NFF, and Karen Ford, CEO of HousingPlus, co-hosted a site visit on August 18th at 365 Shepherd, HousingPlus’s new $61 million affordable and supportive housing development in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, developed in partnership with Spatial Equity.
