Jana Reed is NFF’s Chief of Operations, People, & Culture. Jana oversees several areas of NFF’s work, including talent and training, organizational learning, impact management, operational performance, and communications. Jana also guides Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) efforts as a cornerstone of NFF’s operations and identity.
Previously, Jana led and managed multiple national teams as the Chief Operating Officer at iMentor, an organization centered on building strong mentoring relationships that empower first-generation students to succeed in college and career. Jana has worked in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. In 2008, she co-founded Ascend Learning, a network of schools in Brooklyn, NY, and more recently she was the Chief of Schools of Citizens of the World Charter Schools, a national network of diverse charter schools. Jana also worked for two Massachusetts governors.
Jana earned a Bachelors of Science at Simmons University and a Masters in Public Administration at Harvard Kennedy School. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Explore Charter Schools, Inc. and is a proud member of the APIA Education Leaders. Jana loves to travel, practices meditation, and loves to spend time in her Brooklyn neighborhood.
