The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) has helped create a powerful partnership among banks, CDFIs, and the communities we serve. We welcome efforts to improve clarity and flexibility, but modernization should strengthen – not diminish – the flow of responsible capital to communities with unmet credit needs.
Strong community investment depends on a banking system that helps move capital to where it’s needed most. NFF opposes the proposed CRA changes and calls on regulators at OCC and FDIC to protect and strengthen the law’s role, ensuring that historically underinvested communities have access to the financing needed for affordable housing, nonprofit services, small businesses, and overall well-being.
