Michelle Legaspi Sánchez

As one who has faced consequential crossroads along my professional path in the nonprofit sector, I understand the value of the support of trusted advisors and thought partners. I experienced firsthand how capacity-strengthening resources and guidance can be a game changer for a nonprofit leader, and I wanted to contribute my experiences and skills to be part of that equation. Even more, I want to be part of this work at NFF. It is an organization that lives out its values everyday and is poised to drive social change by getting behind the priorities of communities of color and following the lead of those closest to the work. In my spare time, one of my biggest joys is watching my five daughters on the softball field, basketball court, or in the dojo.

Bio: Michelle joined the NFF team in September 2021 to partner with mission-driven organizations through one-on-one consulting, data analysis, strategic recommendations, and thought leadership. Prior to NFF, Michelle worked in the nonprofit sector for almost twenty years from a variety of vantage points - a service provider, a funder, an advocate, and an educator. Most recently, Michelle served as Executive Director of the Fund for Women and Girls, a grantmaking organization focused on gender equity. While at the Fund, Michelle led the expansion of girls leadership programs, the transition to multi-year funding rooted in trust-based philanthropy, and the development of several advocacy initiatives. Throughout her career, her work has been particularly focused on the health of women and children, HIV/AIDS, and child welfare. Michelle currently serves as a Board Member of the Philanthropy Network of Greater Philadelphia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Rosemont College and a Master of Public Health and a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania.
