“Pa. Early Childhood Programs Stretched to Financial Limit, Study Finds” on Philadelphia’s Local NPR Station WHYY
NFF’s new report, “Overcoming Financial Barriers to Expanding High-Quality Early Care & Education in Southeastern Pennsylvania,” was featured on Philadelphia’s local NPR station WHYY in a story about early childhood programs in Pennsylvania. Touching on some of the difficult decisions that early care and education providers face, Kevin McCorry writes, “…for operators, it's more of a moral choice than a fiscal one to offer robust programming run by college-educated, certified teachers.”
Kristine Alvarez, Associate Director and lead author of the report is quoted, "We're really trying to tackle those years that happen before kindergarten because so much happens in terms of the cognitive development, social development, and brain development of children before they turn 5."
