NFF among CDFIs Awarded $1.25 Billion in Federal Funding

June 16, 2021

Yesterday, the U.S. Department of the Treasury awarded $1.25 billion in COVID-19 relief funds to 863 community development financial institutions (CDFIs) – including a $1.8 million grant to NFF. The grants will be made through Treasury’s CDFI Rapid Response Program (CDFI RRP) and will provide necessary capital for CDFIs to respond to economic challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in underserved communities.

We are so grateful that the federal government recognizes the impact that community-focused lenders can have on communities that have faced decades, if not centuries, of disinvestment. However, this announcement isn't really about us. Instead, it's about the small businesses and nonprofits who will ultimately receive this funding and use it to invest in the communities where that capital is needed most.
