Shifting the paradigm for safety and accountability from criminal justice to Human Justice

$200,000 bridge loan

The Center for NuLeadership on Urban Solutions (CNUS), DBA Center for NuLeadership on Human Justice and Healing (CNHJH),  is a BIPOC-led nonprofit in New York City that aims to redirect human and financial resources from the punishment-oriented criminal justice system to more effective, humane, equitable and sustainable solutions – solutions they call "Human Justice." They offer a variety of programs for currently and formerly incarcerated people and their loved ones, including a youth leadership development program, a cooperative workforce developnent program, an arrest diversion program, and a Human Justice Training and Resource Lab for community leaders, educators, service providers and policymakers. CNUS secured funding from the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice and Young Men's Initiative, but the contracts have been delayed. This bridge loan will support the organization in its operations until that funding arrives.
